Fire Service award for long serving members
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service recently honoured 20 of its uniformed officers with the Fire Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medals.

The Queen awards the medal to those members of the Brigade who have completed 20 years ‘Exemplary Fire Service’.


The medals were presented by

Mr Warren J Smith JP, Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester.

In the presence of


Steve McGuirk CBE, QFSM, MA BA(Hons) BSc, FRSA, FIFireE.
County Fire Officer & Chief Executive

And

Councillor James Pearson
Chairman of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority

Firefighter Lee Hughes
Began his fire service career in September 1989 and on the successful completion of his recruit training course lee was posted to Eccles fire station.
Lee spent over eighteen years at Eccles before transferring to Agecroft in 2008 where he continues to serve.



Pauline Atkinson
Pauline Atkinson joined Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service in august 1989 as a payroll assistant in finance department at fire service headquarters.
Pauline has carried out many roles within the finance department for over 20 years.

Firefighter Stephen Thornton
Began his career in the Fire Service in September 1989 and following the completion of his recruit training course was posted to Wythenshawe fire station.
In 1997 he transferred to Eccles fire station where he remained until transferring to Irlam fire station in august 2002.

Watch Commander (Control) Paula Craig
Paula joined Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service in July 1984 as a temporary clerical assistant working in stores departments at fire service headquarters. Paula worked in many departments at fire service headquarters prior to becoming a fire control operator in October 1988.
