Manchester Artists' Bonfire at Islington Mill, Salford
On Thursday evening, Islington Mill Salford will present an evening where "artists and creators" will come together and wait for it...burn their artwork!

After the success of last year's event we are very pleased to be hosting the second annual Manchester Artists' Bonfire, supported by Castlefield Gallery's Project Space. This is a really special event in which a plethora of artists and creators based in Greater Manchester come together in mourning, celebrating and discussing their work. As the artists offer their creations to the fire they explain the reasons for burning their work and/or provide a reaction to the symbolic act of burning art. Open to all, to be witnessed by all.

In addition to the fire, a research project will be presented showcasing images from 2011's burning and a collection of extended reactions with specially produced research from local artists using a variety of artistic mediums.

Is is just me or does anybody else think that the concept of an "artist or creator" bunging their artwork onto a bonfire is any way creative or even thought provoking?, wy not just paint over the canvas if you are unhappy with it, they are certainly dear enough, or why not give it away, somebody may like it, Modern Parents from Viz spring to mind.
