Salford's Improv film The Dinner Party
by Tony Flynn
Salford's media scene continues to grow strongly with a new film entitled 'The Dinner Party' going into production on September 6th. 'The Dinner Party' features seven graduates and one student from 'The University of Salford'. The crew includes friend of SalfordOnline Mo Omari and the cast include Natalie Smith, Mary Holbrook, Luke Spiers, Jonny Sims, Barney Batchelor, and Pete Johnson. They have a fantastic cast which also includes Stuart Wolfenden from Dead Mans Shoes, This is England and Oranges and Sunshine. The Dinner Party will also benefit from the talent of TV actor Holly Matthews who has acted from the age of 11 through such programs like Byker Grove, Waterloo Road and The Bill, also Rebecca-Clare Evans from the feature films 'Task Force' and 'Jerusalem'. The whole film is based on improvisation, although they have full structure set in place and every actor has an extremely detailed character breakdown and has been spending time in rehearsals to develop. They are very much taking some of Mike Leigh's ways to the table as if the characters have never met before the dinner party neither will the actors until they are on set.
