Love is in the air for Salford students
Singletons who spent Valentine’s Day watching TV can give their love lives a boost by taking part in ‘Finding Mary and Terry’ speed dating events run by a Salford student.

Construction management student Tania Freitas had the idea of starting her own speed dating business after failing to find romance the regular way.

Finding Mary and Terry was set-up after Tania attended the University’s intensive business development programme, Flying Start, which gave her the knowledge and skills to develop her ideas into a business.

The events are aimed at students and young professionals. Upcoming events include a night for professionals aged between 23 and 35 years old at the Kro Bar, Piccadilly, on Monday, 1 March at 7pm.

A student event at the beginning of March has already sold out but places are still available for a student night at Revolution in Fallowfield on Tuesday, 16 March at 7pm.

The positive response Tania has received so far has encouraged her to look beyond the Manchester area and Finding Mary and Terry events have been booked in Liverpool city centre on Saturday, 1 May.

The cost is £10 for students and £20 for professionals. Customers who leave without a match can attend another event for free.

Tania said: “There’s so much to think about when first starting a business, but the Flying Start Programme taught me everything I need to know.

“Love doesn’t just fall from the sky, so if you want a great night out and to increase your chances of meeting someone special, Finding Mary and Terry can help!”
