Mr Punch to visit Salford care home
Barton Brook Residential and Nursing Home in Eccles is to be one of the lucky Bupa homes to get a taste of the Great British seaside
We all like to be beside the seaside, but for some a day out on the beach is just too big a trip, which is why staff at Bupa Care Homes are aiming to bring the Great British seaside into 10 of its care homes across Greater Manchester. Bupa’s ‘Great British Seaside’ week [18 – 24 July] will see the care homes hosting seaside-themed parties for their residents, complete with deck chairs, bingo and fish and chip suppers, and they are appealing for help in creating extra seaside excitement. The care homes are calling on local people and organisations that can provide any seaside-related fun – from Punch and Judy entertainers to ice cream vans and even donkeys! Lucy Albone, Bupa Care Homes’ national activities executive, said, “Many of our residents are unable to travel to the seaside, so we want to bring all the fun of Britain’s favourite day out to them. We would really like to hear from anyone who is able to help us. Recreating a trip to the seaside will bring back many happy memories for our residents, as well as making sure there’s a real holiday atmosphere for everyone involved.” Altogether, more than 300 Bupa care homes across the UK will be recreating the classic British holiday and bringing the seaside to life.
