999 Move To Salford

999 Move To Salford

999 Design is shutting up shop in Manchester to move its base of operations close to The Lowry Hotel in order to take advantage of the BBC’s move to MediaCityUK.

Andy Helme, MD of 999 Design in Salford, said: “At 999 Design, our business model focuses on being ahead of the competition and this move to Salford is another example of how we are looking to the future.

“The BBC move to Salford is expected to be the catalyst for a growing creative industry in the area and we hope to capitalise on this from the beginning. With media, design, marketing and advertising companies moving into the area and creating high-value jobs, this can only be good news for local people.”

999 is also promoting the BBC Philharmonic – Salford’s newest addition – with a campaign to get children into classical music. The next generation of Salfordians will be vital to the success of the BBC Phil, and ‘Journey Through Music’ aims to enable young people between 8 and 14 to have easy access to the orchestra.

As part of the initiative, parents can take advantage of discounted ticket prices and the choice of attending either just the first or second half of the concert to allow for families with busy lifestyles or those with younger children who might find a full-length concert too long.

999, which has been working with BBC Philharmonic for more than two years, has also developed an inventive way of highlighting the orchestra’s new ‘Meet the Phil’ season that allows visitors to watch the orchestra rehearse, meet and talk with players, conductors, composers and sound engineers.

BBC Philharmonic marketing manager, Amanda Dorr, said: “We have been delighted with the work 999 has produced, not only this concert season, but over the past two years as we recognised from the outset that their creative approach really reflected the Orchestra’s core values.”
