Swinton pub shortlisted in makeover competition
Oddfellows Arms in Swinton has battled it out against other independent pubs from across the country to be shortlisted for a £2,000 makeover. The competition run by paint brand, Glidden Trade, was set up to help the UK’s vital but struggling pub sector. The Glidden Trade ‘Paint and a Pint’ competition will see two pubs receive a £2,000 transformation, expert colour and paint advice from the paint brand, as well as money towards a re-opening party. To further support local business, Glidden Trade will arrange for all the redecoration work to be completed by a professional decorator from the area. “Winning the prize would give a much needed boost to our pub,” said John Graham from Oddfellows Arms. “Money’s been tight during the recession so we’ve not had the cash to keep the pub looking its best. A fresh coat of paint will make a real difference to us and our customers, and will help keep this community pub alive and kicking.” In addition to the top awards, three second place pubs will win a prize worth £500 and five third place winners will also receive £100 in Glidden Trade vouchers to put towards their own makeover. The results of the ‘Paint and a Pint’ competition will be announced later this month. Source: Tangerine PR.
