Whilst some Manchester United fans were still nursing their celebratory hangovers yesterday, a couple of cheeky supporters unfurled a banner in the heart of Liverpool’s inner sanctum. As our rivals were singing their obligatory You’ll Never Walk Alone prior to kick off against Spurs a banner which read “MUFC 19 times” made its way into the Anfield Road End of the ground.
This isn’t the first time a battle of the banners has exploded between the two clubs, with Liverpool fans stating: “Come Back When You Have Won 18″ in 1994 following United’s maiden league title under Fergie. I doubt this will be the last time the issue comes up in the coming weeks.
