Media job - Project Assistant
The following part-time paid position has been made available in a growing music industry business in Salford.

Music Industry Project Assistant

Location: Music Industry Learning (MIL), Salford
Salary: £6.50 per hour
Reporting to: Project Manager
Terms: 15 hours per week
Job Type: Freelance

Summary
As a Project Assistant (P.A) at MIL, you will work alongside other project assistants and the Project Manager to develop and promote music and media projects for people from all backgrounds within the local community.

You will ensure that our services are promoted to the many community groups around Salford and explore additional sources of income for the organisation as well helping create new courses.

Key Tasks
You will recruit, motivate and line manage volunteers and implement systems that ensure effective supervision
Organising and attending volunteer's meetings
Delegating work duties to volunteers
Engaging with local community groups and businesses and developing training courses that can be delivered to them
Representing the organisation with external agencies at all levels in an appropriate and professional manner
Ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures, eg equal opportunities, health and safety, child protection, absence from work, IT etc
Attending meetings when required
Developing and implementing an external communications and marketing strategy such as website development, newsletters and other publicity materials
Updating the website with news and job postings
Monitoring progress towards agreed objectives, outputs and outcomes and preparing reports when required
Working with other staff to identify new income streams
Undertaking any other reasonable tasks when required
Dealing with client groups facing barriers to learning and inclusion

Person Specification
Knowledge of the music industry and how money is made
Good general level of education with numeracy and literacy skills
The ability to write and communicate succinctly and clearly both verbally and in writing
Good problem solving skills
Excellent computer skills and the ability to use various software programs such as Word & Excel
Excellent communication and organisational skills
The ability to manage and motivate a team
The ability to manage a complex programme of work and prioritise tasks without supervision
An understanding of the role of community music and media in disadvantaged communities is desirable
Experience of working with a range of organisations eg community groups, regeneration agencies, local authority departments is desirable
A willingness to undergo any training
A willingness to undertake duties in the evening and at weekends if required
