Red faces at the BBC after it was revealed that the corporation had between April 2008 and March this year had a staggering £240,000 worth of mobiles and laptops either stolen or lost. That equates to 146 laptops, 65 mobile phones, and 17 Blackberrys, admittedly 19 have been recovered, but that still leaves a defecit of £217,569 for the year.
Or to put it another way that the £240k total is the equivalent of 1,656 colour TV licences!
A BBC spokeswoman commented: ''The BBC takes theft very seriously and has implemented a number of measures to reduce the level of crime".
Lets hope security will be tighter when the BBC move to MediaCity.

Good grief,
If they would like to lose a laptop in the gallery it would be gratefully received. Karen |
