National Fame for deep-fried Eccles Cake

It only took a week, but the national papers have caught up to what's going on in Salford. Last week (10 July) we reported from unveiling of the newest dessert treat based on a regional classic: where lightly battered Eccles Cakes were deep-fried and smothered in raspberry sauce to create the 'Eccles Fritter'. First the MEN leapt on the bandwagon, then a day later Granada Reports, by 15 July the Daily Mail had picked up the story, then the Daily Telegraph today. It just shows you how quirky stories like this can spin out across the country.
