Get connected with Community Activists
Learn about the Government’s Connecting Communities Agenda on the 21st December

The event starts at Saint Thomas Conference Centre, Manchester, at 12.00, with a networking lunch and will finish at approximately 3.30pm.

The main focus will be learning and sharing the 'Connecting Communities' initiative the Government recently launched in 18 areas in the North West. It’s an opportunity for community activists to come together to discuss, make suggestions, provide support and plan activity that’s important for community activists, especially in these Connecting Communities areas.

Just as important, the event will also be:

- an opportunity for CAN activists to meet again following the successful residentials held already

- open to other community activists who are not yet involved with CAN, but are interested in being involved in what CAN is doing.

CAN is an independent, politically neutral, inclusive Community Activists Network, providing an open forum to exchange views and ideas so that committed individuals can say openly and honestly, as individuals not representatives, what the real community issues are and seek ways to address them.

Our aim is:

To be a honest, open, sustainable support network for community activists throughout the Northwest that allows skills, recourses and information to be shared by quick, responsive, informed, up-do-date, user friendly methods, thus building capacity & trust amongst volunteers involved in all facets of community work, regardless of status, race, gender or age.

We have held two successful residential events, agreed our aims and have a current membership of 80 activists. We hope to reach & support activists in every neighbourhood across the North West

We want to influence what is happening around the Community Empowerment Agenda at a regional level and to reach out to other community activists who want to be part of what we are doing

Government Office North West and North West Together We Can are organising this event on 21 December. We are assisting with the planning for the day’s program, part of which will be for us to discuss the future role of CAN

All community activists are welcome but places will be limited because of the size of the room. If you want to come, email info@nwcan.org or call Liz Wood on 0161 218 1195 (any time).
