There are two easy ways to get involved in SalfordOnline. You can join as a member and post anything you like as a comment, quick thoughts on the Blog Page, or full articles on any subject on the Articles page.

To get involved in producing videos, whether it is behind the camera, presenting, interviewing or editing videos (local history, community events, press conferences, interviews, gigs, theatre, music, arts), send your contact details to editor@salfordonline.com with a short description of yourself.

Profile: Tom has been a librarian, a proofreader and a presenter at a Christian radio station, but now gets his kicks from shooting and editing video and meeting local people. He is from Stoke, but try not to hold that against him.

Local History Editor/Reporter: Tony Flynn

Profile: Tony Flynn is a well known Local Historian who has written many books about Salford and Eccles on such diverse subjects as Cinemas, Music Halls, Public Houses, also areas of Salford long demolished, such as Hanky Park and Cross Lane.

He regularly gives talks to various Local History Societies in the area, also doing conducted historical walks around Salford and Eccles for Salford Council and The Chapel Street Business Group.

For the last two years he has worked for The Salford Film Festival doing an illustrated talk on the History Of The Cinema in Salford, whilst last year he promoted and introduced a long lost film classic, Cup Fever by The Childrens Film Foundation which was filmed in Eccles and Manchester in 1966.

His work has been published in such publications as The New Manchester Review, Whats Doing and The Salford Star, also having been a guest on BBC Radio Manchester and Salford City Radio.

Finally he co-hosts and organises Salford Salutes Dylan, a charity fundraising event for schools in the Salford area where local musicians play their interpretations of Dylan songs which has been running for four years.

He says that he is longing to receive his long-overdue knighthood so that he can send it back.

Profile: Stuart is a third year BA Journalism and Broadcasting student for The University of Salford, due to graduate in July.

He is a a local lad and is now living the dream of reporting on the news in Salford thanks to SalfordOnline who have given him the opportunity to become one of their reporters.

His background in journalism is mostly sport orientated, but is now thriving on the joys of community reporting, rather than community service.

Stuart can usually be found on Salford Precinct with a camera and a microphone asking the public questions. If you see him please be gentle.

Video Editor: Karen Morris

Profile: My name is Karen Morris, Scorpio, 5ft4in (NB this is rather generous, Ed.), my favourite colour is yellow. I am from Salford (Worsley), where I grew up. I completed a business degree at Salford University. I have worked in media for 4 years, as filmmaker and video editor, and more recently a journalist/videographer.

I started at Lets Go Global who ran a weekly live broadcast show, where I was part of a live crew (camera, vision mixing, sound etc) as well as producing VT films as a video editor and filmmaker.

From there, I went to the BBC for over year on a training scheme and as well as doing separate training at North West Tonight. I also completed training at 3sixtymedia and I have made films for the BBC Big Screen.

I have completed a 6 month sound engineering scholarship for women at SSR.

I now work at Salford Online, as well as running my own independent company (karenmorrisproductions.com), where I make films for community media, corporate, weddings etc. I am linked to other media organisations such as Peoples Voice Media and CRIS.

Profile: Victoria is studying Journalsim with Television Production at Chester University but is a local lass who lives in Monton.

Victoria enjoys interviewing and reporting and has completed work experience at fashion magazines.
